Prototype Construction Build your prototype! A prototype is a rough or reduced size model of your project, that is as close to your final design vision as possible. We will be bringing in seniors and teachers next Thursday to critique, as well as running our own critique of these. The better and more accurate they are, the more useful the information will be that you receive from them. HOMEWORK: Bring all the materials you need to construct your prototype of your project next week! Starter 3:
Every project should have a thesis statement--that is, a succinct and clearly stated message that the audience should get from that project.
Discuss: Quality of feedback on concept posters (come on people, I expect better from you). Project Plans Where are we? How close to done is everyone? Conferences Sign up for conferences with Lori, let's conference! For conferences, we will discuss:
HOMEWORK: If you're not done (and you should be!), get your project plan completely finished! Hey everyone- I've completely lost my voice and have a fever, so I will not be with you today. Please engage in all these activities! This process is super important for developing a solid project idea that will have maximum impact on the audience! You can email me with questions- I'll be checking email periodically.
Starter 2:
Concept Posters Take 15 minutes to finish your concept poster. Make sure it has all the required elements. See Lori’s example for clarification!

Next 4 Weeks:
Idea Generation Activities! We’re going to take the next hour to develop ideas in a number of different ways- we will look at models, we will engage in some brainstorming activities. NORMS:
Activity 1: Bad Idea FactoryYour goal, as a group, is to come up with ideas for what would make the worst genocide exhibit possible.
Activity 2: Student and Professional Models As a group, work your way through the models and directions linked above. Activity 3: Brainstorm Rotation For this activity, you'll be rotating with your group through 4 brainstorming stations, each with different prompts. You will have FIVE MINUTES at each station, to write down as many ideas as you can come up with.
Concept Posters These should be fairly rough! The goal is to have something to have our first critique of ideas for tomorrow. Don’t worry, this is NOT your final idea! Your poster should include:
HOMEWORK: None! See you tomorrow. |
