Show Don’t Tell
Make sure you get this completed and turned in by the end of class today. If you need to write more in your essay before you can do this, do that, but leave yourself 20 minutes or so at the end of class to get this done. Essay Rough Draft You need to show me at least 5 completed paragraphs in order to work on your mask today. Remember, the completed RD is due on MONDAY (no flexibility here- we’re starting to be on a tight timeline to exhibition). Mask Work Time Finished with 5 completed paragraphs on your rough draft AND the Show Don’t Tell assignment? Awesome. Go work on your mask. A Note to my Class...
As you can see, I have a sub for you today, as I’m home sick. Today your primary task is to make progress on your masks- now is the time to finish creating any elements you need from plaster, and to start painting and decorating to create your design. All the materials I’ve received so far are here and labeled. Please note that these are the school’s supplies, so while you get first dibs if they are on your list, you should share with other students as well, and any unused supplies should stay in my classroom. Here are my basic expectations for you today:
Task List for Wednesday
Clean Up List- Start this process 10-15 minutes before the end of class. Assign specific tasks to students!

A quick note- I will be out tomorrow. Tomorrow is a mask day, so come ready to get creative! Please be respectful, and clean up when my sub asks you to. Shipping has been delayed on many items, but all should be here by the start of next week. Get as far as you can with your mask right now, and then turn to your essay when you hit a stopping point.
Don't panic about the masks- we still have 2 full weeks to work on them after this week. Show Don’t Tell Complete the Palahniuk essay, exercise, and practice- this is a QUIZ grade, so you I will give you feedback, and you will have the opportunity to revise. Essay Rough Draft Get as far as you can in your rough draft today! You should have at LEAST 3-4 paragraphs written by the end of class today. If you’re not there...it’s homework time for you! Too often we get stuck in structures and organizational outlines that can stifle our narrative voices. We’re going to use a strategy to start this writing that is used by many professional writers. Read this essay by Anne LaMott. As you read:
